Prim. dr sc. med. Milan Bjekić was born on 23 April 1965 in Belgrade. He graduated from the Belgrade University School of Medicine in 1990 with an average grade of 9.03 (9.03 / 100). He completed his specialization in Dermatovenerology at the Dermatovenerology Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade in 1994 with great success. He completed his postgraduate studies in 1996 at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, defending his master’s thesis entitled Assessing Risk Factors in Sexual Behavior and Their Impact on Gonorrhea. He defended his doctoral dissertation in the field of dermatology, entitled Assessment of Risk Factors for Venereal Disease – Correlation with Sociopathological Phenomena and Personality Characteristics, at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade in 1998.
In 1991, he was appointed Assistant Trainee for the subject of dermatovenerology at the Clinic for Dermatovenerology, University of Prishtina, and in 1994 established a permanent employment with the City Institute for Skin and Venereal Diseases in Belgrade as a specialist doctor of dermatovenerology. He acquired the title of primarius in 2003. Since 2007, he has been appointed Chief of the Department of Venereal Diseases at the City Institute for Skin and Venereal Diseases.
In 2000 he was elected as a research associate at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, and in 2005, at the Institute for Medical Research in Belgrade, he was elected a senior research associate. In 2013, he was elected Scientific Advisor at the same institution.
He has been a member of the Sub-Group on HIV-AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases within the National Expert Group on Youth Development and Health since 2003 and a member of the Republican Expert Commission on Reproductive Health and Family Planning since 2008.
From 2010 to 2016 he was a part-time professor and professor at the Higher Medical School of Vocational Studies in Belgrade, both in elementary and specialist studies, and since 2019 he has been working as a professor of vocational studies in the field of Dermatology.
Prim. dr sc. med. Milan Bjekić is the recipient of the 2011 Annual Dermatovenerologists Association of Serbia Award for his work in extenso, published in an international journal with the highest impact factor and in the highest category. He is the recipient of the annual awards of the same Association for 2012 and 2013 as the author with the highest number of published papers in the national journal Serbian Journal of Dermatology and Venereology. He has published over 150 scientific papers in the country and abroad.
He is the author of the textbook Dermatology with the basics of medical skin care, Skin care in dermatology and Skin physiology for students of the study program Professional cosmetician aesthetist. He is the author of the textbook Atlas of Dermatovenerological Diseases of the Male Genital Region intended for specialist studies in the field of dermatovenerology and urology at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade.
He is also the author of a number of books in the field of sexually transmitted infections and public health: A Guide to the Control of Sexually Transmitted Infections in Sex Workers; HIV / AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (PPI) A Guide to Good Practice in Primary Health Care; Sexually Transmitted Infections – Sex Education and Sexual Diseases – A Guide for Youth.
He is also the author of numerous educational books for the general population and the youngest: The Apache Story, The Dragon Diet, The Itch Story, The Winter Story, The Diary of a Pimple, The Pirates and the Golden Egg, and The Records of a Venerologist.
