Prim. Ph.D. honey Milan Bjekić was born on April 23, 1965 in Belgrade. He graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade in 1990 with an average grade of 9.03 (9.03/100). He completed his specialization in Dermatovenerology at the Dermatovenerology Clinic of the Medical Faculty of the University of Belgrade in 1994 with excellent results. He completed his postgraduate studies in 1996 at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade, defending his master’s thesis entitled Assessment of risk factors in sexual behavior and their impact on gonorrhea. In 1998, he defended his doctoral dissertation in the field of dermatology, entitled Assessment of risk factors for the recurrence of venereal diseases – correlation with sociopathological phenomena and personality characteristics, at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade.

In 1991, he was selected as an assistant-intern for the subject of dermatovenerology at the Dermatovenerology Clinic of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Pristina, and in 1994 he established a permanent employment relationship at the City Institute for Skin and Venereal Diseases in Belgrade as a doctor specializing in dermatovenerology. He acquired the title of primarius in 2003. Since 2007, he has been appointed head of the Department for Venereal Diseases at the City Institute for Skin and Venereal Diseases.

In 2000, he was elected as a scientific associate at the Medical Faculty of the University of Belgrade, and in 2005, he was elected as a senior scientific associate at the Institute for Medical Research in Belgrade. In 2013, he was elected to the position of scientific advisor at the same institution.

He has been a member of the Subgroup for HIV-AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases within the National Expert Group for Youth Development and Health since 2003 and a member of the Republican Expert Commission for Reproductive Health and Family Planning since 2008.

In the period from 2010 to 2016, he performed part-time the duties and tasks of a professor at the Higher Health School of Professional Studies in Belgrade, both in basic and specialist studies, and since 2019 he has been working as a professor of professional studies in the field of Dermatology.

Prim. Ph.D. Med. Milan Bjekić is the winner of the annual award of the Association of Dermatovenerologists of Serbia for the year 2011, for a work in extenso, published in an international journal with the highest impact factor and in the highest category. He is the winner of the annual awards of the same Association for 2012 and 2013 as the author with the largest number of published works in the national journal Serbian Journal of Dermatology and Venereology. He published over 150 scientific works in the country and abroad.

He is the author of the textbook Dermatology with the basics of medical skin care, Skin care in dermatology and Skin physiology for students of the Vocational Cosmetologist Esthetician study program. He is the author of the textbook Atlas of dermatovenerological diseases of the male genital region intended for specialist studies in the field of dermatovenerology and urology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Belgrade.

He is also the author of a number of books in the field of sexually transmitted infections and public health: Guide to the control of sexually transmitted infections among sex workers; HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) Guide to Good Practice in Primary Health Care; Sexually Transmitted Infections – Sexuality Education and Sexually Transmitted Diseases – A Guide for Young People.

He is also the author of numerous educational books for the general population and the youngest: Apciha’s Story, Dragon’s Diet, The Itch Story, The Winter Story, The Diary of a Pimple, Pirates and the Golden Egg and Notes of a Venereologist.
